Poisons (Amendment) Rules 2007
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 20(1) of the Poisons Act, the Minister for Health hereby makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules may be cited as the Poisons (Amendment) Rules 2007 and shall come into operation on 1st January 2008.
Amendment of Second Schedule
2.  Group II of the Second Schedule to the Poisons Rules (R 1) is amended —
(a)by inserting, immediately below the item “Acetanilide; alkyl acetanilides”, the following item:
Acetyl cysteine
 
Cosmetic products not intended for the treatment of human ailments.
”;
(b)by inserting, immediately after the words “Pomegranate bark” under the heading “Substance or article in which exempted” against the item “Pomegranate, alkaloids of”, the words “; cosmetic products not intended for the treatment of human ailments”;
(c)by inserting, immediately below the item “Pomegranate, alkaloids of”, the following item:
Quebracho, alkaloids of
 
Cosmetic products not intended for the treatment of human ailments.
”;
(d)by inserting, immediately after the words “smoking mixtures or fumigants” under the heading “Substance or article in which exempted” against the item “Solanaceous alkaloids”, the words “; cosmetic products not intended for the treatment of human ailments”;
(e)by inserting, immediately below the item “p-Aminobenzenesulphonamide; its salts; derivatives of p-aminobenzenesulphonamide having any of the hydrogen atoms of the p-amino group or of sulphonamide group substituted by another radical; their salts”, the following item:
Ammonium lactate

(f)by inserting, immediately below the item “Benzocaine”, the following item:

(i)by inserting, immediately below the item “Clotrimazole”, the following item:

(j)by inserting, immediately below the item “Creosote obtained from wood”, the following item:

(k)by inserting, immediately below the item “m-Nitrophenol; o-Nitrophenol; p-Nitrophenol”, the following item:
Phenacetin

(l)by inserting, immediately below the item “Picric acid”, the following item:
Piper methysticum (kava-kava), the active constituents of; kava pyrones (kavalactones); their quarternary compounds; their salts

(m)by inserting, immediately after the words “as a preservative;” under the heading “Substance or article in which exempted” against the item “Sodium fluoride”, the words “cosmetic products not intended for the treatment of human ailments; tablets containing not more than 0.016% in weight of sodium fluoride and intended, when chewed, to prevent tooth decay;”;
(n)by inserting, immediately below the item “Theophylline; its salts; its derivatives; its compounds”, the following item:
Thiabendazole

(o)by inserting, immediately after the words “Preparations containing not more than 0.05% of tranexamic acid” under the heading “Substance or article in which exempted” against the item “Tranexamic acid”, the words “; cosmetic products not intended for the treatment of human ailments”.
