(Amendment No. 3) Rules 2017

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 10A(4) of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Transport makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules are the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Quota System) (Amendment No. 3) Rules 2017 and come into operation on 20 December 2017.

Amendment of rule 11

2. Rule 11(3) of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Quota System) Rules (R 31) (called in these Rules the principal Rules) is amended by deleting “$21.40” and substituting “$32.10”.

Amendment of rule 18

3. Rule 18 of the principal Rules is amended —

(a)

by deleting “12(2)” in paragraph (1) and substituting “11(2)”;

(b)

by inserting, immediately after paragraph (1A), the following paragraphs:

“(1B) A holder of a certificate of entitlement issued in respect of a motor vehicle who is not able to register the motor vehicle before or on the date specified in the notification under rule 11(2) may apply to the Registrar to extend the time for registration.

(1C) Upon receipt of an application to extend the time for registration under paragraph (1B), the Registrar may, in his discretion —

(a)	grant the application subject to such conditions as he thinks fit; or
(b)	refuse the application.

(1D) A fee of $32.10 (inclusive of GST) is payable upon the Registrar granting the application under paragraph (1C)(a).”; and

(c)

by inserting, immediately after paragraph (4), the following paragraph:

“(5) A fee of $32.10 (inclusive of GST) is payable upon the Registrar granting the application under paragraph (3).”.

Amendment of rule 19

4. Rule 19 of the principal Rules is amended by deleting “$10” in paragraphs (1), (1A) and (2) and substituting in each case “$15”.

Amendment of rule 20

5. Rule 20 of the principal Rules is amended —

(a)	by deleting “$10” in paragraph (5) and substituting “$15”; and
(b)	by deleting “$10.70” in paragraph (11) and substituting “$16.05”.

Amendment of rule 24

6. Rule 24(10) of the principal Rules is amended by deleting “$21.40” and substituting “$32.10”.

Amendment of rule 24A

7. Rule 24A of the principal Rules is amended —

(a)	by deleting “$21.40” in paragraph (1G) and substituting “$32.10”; and
(b)	by deleting “$10.70” in paragraph (14) and substituting “$16.05”.

Amendment of rule 24C

8. Rule 24C(6) of the principal Rules is amended by deleting “$21.40” and substituting “$32.10”.

Amendment of rule 29

9. Rule 29(1) of the principal Rules is amended by deleting “$21.40” and substituting “$32.10”.
