(Criminal Proceedings in Youth Courts)
Rules 2024
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 46 of the Family Justice Act 2014 and all other powers enabling us under any written law, we, the Family Justice Rules Committee, make the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules are the Family Justice (Criminal Proceedings in Youth Courts) Rules 2024 and come into operation on 15 October 2024.
Definition
2.  In these Rules, “Code” means the Criminal Procedure Code 2010.
Modifications of provisions of Criminal Procedure Code 2010 for purposes of section 35(2)(b) of Act
3.  The following modifications (where applicable) are prescribed for the purposes of section 35(2)(b) of the Act:
(a)except as provided for in paragraph (c), any reference in the Code to a District Court, a State Court or a Magistrate’s Court is a reference to a Youth Court;
(b)any reference in the Code to a District Judge or a Magistrate is a reference to a District Judge or Magistrate who is designated under section 14 of the Act as a judge of a Youth Court;
(c)any reference in the Code to the Registrar of the State Courts is a reference to the Registrar.
Application of Part 26 of Family Justice (General) Rules 2024 in relation to criminal proceedings in Youth Courts
4.  Despite Part 1, Rule 2(7)(a) of the Family Justice (General) Rules 2024 (G.N. No. S 720/2024), Part 26, Rules 1, 2, 3(1) to (7), 5 and 6 of those Rules apply in relation to any criminal proceedings in a Youth Court.
