(International Registration)
(Amendment) Rules 2014

In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 64A and 74 of the Registered Designs Act, the Minister for Law, after consulting with the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore, hereby makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules may be cited as the Registered Designs (International Registration) (Amendment) Rules 2014 and shall come into operation on 13 November 2014.

Amendment of rule 2

2. Rule 2 of the Registered Designs (International Registration) Rules 2005 (G.N. No. S 177/2005) (referred to in these Rules as the principal Rules) is amended by deleting the definitions of “Designs Journal” and “International Bureau”.

Amendment of rule 3

3. Rule 3(1) of the principal Rules is amended by deleting sub‑paragraph (b) and substituting the following sub‑paragraph:

“(b)	published on the Office’s Internet website at http://www.ipos.gov.sg.”.

Amendment of rule 7

4. Rule 7(3) of the principal Rules is amended —

(a)

by deleting sub‑paragraph (a) and substituting the following sub‑paragraph:

“(a)

be made —

(i)	in the case of a notifiable transaction referred to in paragraph (1)(a), in Form CM6; or
(ii)	in the case of a notifiable transaction referred to in paragraph (1)(b), in Form CM7;”;

(b)

by deleting the word “mortgagor” in sub‑paragraph (c)(i) and substituting the word “grantor”; and

(c)

by deleting the words “fee for the filing of Form D9” in sub‑paragraph (d) and substituting the words “applicable fee set out”.

Amendment of rule 9

5. Rule 9 of the principal Rules is amended —

(a)	by deleting the words “on Form D16” in paragraph (4) and substituting the words “in Form CM5”; and
(b)	by deleting the words “Form D1” in paragraph (5) and substituting the word “writing”.

Amendment of rule 10

6. Rule 10(1) of the principal Rules is amended by deleting the words “6 months from” and substituting the words “6 months after”.

Amendment of rule 15

7. Rule 15(4) of the principal Rules is amended by deleting the words “3 months from” in sub‑paragraph (a) and substituting the words “3 months after”.

Amendment of rule 21

8. Rule 21(3) of the principal Rules is amended by deleting “, 67”.

Savings and transitional provisions

9.—(1) An application for registration of the relevant particulars of a notifiable transaction made before 13 November 2014 under rule 7(3) of the principal Rules as in force immediately before that date shall on or after that date be treated as made under rule 7(3) of the principal Rules as in force on or after that date.

(2) Any request for an extension of time made before 13 November 2014 under rule 9(4) of the principal Rules as in force immediately before that date shall on or after that date be treated as made under rule 9(4) of the principal Rules as in force on or after that date.

(3) Any representations filed with the Registrar before 13 November 2014 under rule 9(5) of the principal Rules as in force immediately before that date shall on or after that date be treated as filed under rule 9(5) of the principal Rules as in force on or after that date.
