(General) (Amendment)
Regulations 2024
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 57 of the Healthcare Services Act 2020, the Minister for Health makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations are the Healthcare Services (General) (Amendment) Regulations 2024 and come into operation on 14 October 2024.
Amendment of regulation 2
2.  In the Healthcare Services (General) Regulations 2021 (G.N. No. S 1035/2021), in regulation 2, after the definition of “licensee”, insert —
“ “medical certificate”, in relation to a patient, means a document issued by a medical practitioner or dentist certifying the state of the patient’s health;”.
New regulation 39A
3.  In the Healthcare Services (General) Regulations 2021, after regulation 39, insert —
Issue of medical certificates
39A.—(1)  A licensee must ensure that every medical certificate that is issued in respect of a patient of the licensee —
(a)is issued by a personnel of the licensee who —
(i)is a medical practitioner or dentist; and
(ii)had provided medical or dental care (as the case may be) to the patient; and
(b)states the name and registration number of the medical practitioner or dentist who issued the medical certificate.
(2)  In this regulation, “registration number” —
(a)in relation to a dentist, means the registration number assigned to the dentist by the Singapore Dental Council upon registration under the Dental Registration Act 1999; or
(b)in relation to a medical practitioner, means the registration number assigned to the medical practitioner by the Singapore Medical Council upon registration under the Medical Registration Act 1997.”.
