Arms and Explosives
(Arms) Notification 2020

In exercise of the powers conferred by paragraph (c) of the definition of “arms” in section 2(1) of the Arms and Explosives Act, the Minister for Home Affairs makes the following Notification:

Citation and commencement

1. This Notification is the Arms and Explosives (Arms) Notification 2020 and comes into operation on 21 September 2020.

Arrows specified as arms

2. An arrow with any of the following points is specified to be arms for the purposes of the Act:

(a)	a broadhead tip;
(b)	a field arrow tip;
(c)	a blunt arrow tip;
(d)	a grabbing arrow tip;
(e)	a fishing arrow tip.

Heavy bows specified as arms

3. Each of the following bows is specified to be arms for the purposes of the Act:

(a)	an arbalest;
(b)	a device (commonly called a crossbow) consisting of a bow fitted transversely on a stock that has a groove or barrel, designed to direct an arrow or a bolt;
(c)	a bow with a draw weight of more than 27.215 kilograms.
