Administration of Muslim Law
(Fitrah) (Amendment) Rules 2017

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 69 of the Administration of Muslim Law Act, the Majlis Ugama Islam, Singapura, with the approval of Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, who is charged with the responsibility for the portfolio of the Minister for Culture, Community and Youth as regards Muslim affairs, makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules are the Administration of Muslim Law (Fitrah) (Amendment) Rules 2017 and come into operation on 1 January 2018.

Amendment of rule 2

2. Rule 2 of the Administration of Muslim Law (Fitrah) Rules (R 5) is amended by deleting the definition of “Secretary”.

Miscellaneous amendments

3. The Administration of Muslim Law (Fitrah) Rules are amended —

(a)

by deleting the word “Secretary,” in rule 3(c) and substituting the words “Chief Executive,”; and

(b)

by deleting the word “Secretary” in the following provisions and substituting in each case the words “Chief Executive”:

Rules 6, 11(3) and 22.
