Citation |
1. This Notification may be cited as the Factories (Qualifications and Training of Safety Officers) Notification. |
Safety officer to be registered |
2. No person may act as a safety officer in a factory unless he is registered under this Notification and possesses a valid certificate of registration. |
Application for registration |
3. A person who wishes to be registered as a safety officer in a factory must apply to the Chief Inspector in the form set out in the Schedule. |
Persons who may be registered |
4. A person may be registered as a safety officer if he is 21 years of age or above and —

Power of Chief Inspector to refuse registration |
5. If the Chief Inspector is not satisfied that an applicant should be registered as a safety officer, the Chief Inspector may refuse to register the applicant. |

7.—(1) The Chief Inspector may require a safety officer to attend training courses which, in the opinion of the Chief Inspector, are relevant to the work of a safety officer.

Appeal |
8. A person who is aggrieved by a decision of the Chief Inspector under this Notification may, within 2 weeks from the date of the decision, appeal to the Minister whose decision shall be final. |
Saving |
9. Certificates of registration issued under the cancelled Factories (Qualifications and Training of Safety Officers) Notification and are valid immediately before 1st December 1995 shall, unless earlier cancelled pursuant to this Notification or to the Factories (Registration and Duties of Safety Officers) Regulations, continue to be valid for one year after that date.
