Factories (Exemption) Order

Citation

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Factories (Exemption) Order.

(2) This Order shall remain in operation for a period of 3 years until 7th April 1998 inclusive.

Singapore Armed Forces exempted

2. Subject to paragraph 3, factories belonging to or in the occupation of the Singapore Armed Forces and premises in which building operations and works of engineering construction are carried on by the Singapore Armed Forces are hereby exempted from the provisions of the Factories Act.

Exemption not extended to Government contractors

3. The exemption under paragraph 2 shall not apply to factories and premises in which building operations and works of engineering construction are carried on by contractors engaged by the Government to carry out such building operations or works of engineering construction.
