PRELIMINARY
Citation
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Fire Safety (Dangerous Trades or Purposes) Regulations.

Definitions
3.  In these Regulations, unless the context otherwise requires —
“accepted Code of Practice” means any code of practice, standard, guide or manual relating to fire safety which is acceptable to the Commissioner;
“cellulose solution” means any solution having as a basis any nitrate of cellulose (including pyroxylin) and for its other ingredients any flammable or volatile solvent;
“certificate of statutory completion” means a certificate of statutory completion issued under section 20 of the Building Control Act [Cap. 29];
“Code of Practice for Fire Precautions in Buildings” means the current Code of Practice for Fire Precautions in Buildings published by the Fire Safety Bureau, Singapore Civil Defence Force and includes all amendments made from time to time to the Code;
“dangerous trade or purpose” means such dangerous trade or purpose specified in the First Schedule to the Act;
“joinery works” means any premises where machinery other than light portable machinery is used to fashion timber into furniture, house fittings and other woodwork;
“licensed premises” means any premises which has been issued with a licence under section 31(1) of the Act;
“licensee” means a person who holds a licence issued by the Commissioner under section 31(1) of the Act;
“motor vehicle” includes a vehicle of every description which may be or is capable of being propelled or drawn by mechanical power;
“painting garage” means a garage or place kept or used for painting motor vehicles, except a garage or place used in connection with a private dwelling-house and kept for private use only;
“rubber factory” means a place used for the manufacture, treatment, smoking or preparation of rubber, gutta percha, jelutong and any form of rubber goods;
“sawmill” means any premises where timber is sawn from logs by mechanically operated circular or band saws;
“temporary occupation permit” means a temporary occupation permit issued under section 20 of the Building Control Act;
“timber” means both sawn and unsawn logs and all other forms of timber and wood used for the purposes of trade or manufacture;
“tyre retreading works” means any premises or part of any premises where rubber tyres are stripped and new treads applied and where heat is used in the process.
