Price Control (Display of Prices) Order

Citation
1.  This Order may be cited as the Price Control (Display of Prices) Order.
Net price to be displayed
2.  Unless otherwise exempted by the Price Controller, any person who sells by retail any of the goods specified in the Schedule shall exhibit clearly and conspicuously in the manner prescribed by this Order the net price demanded by him for the sale of such goods.
Price to include two factors
3.  The price referred to in paragraph 2 shall include —
(a)any discount given by the retailer; and
(b)the cost of any container for the goods sold, whether or not the container is returnable.
Prepacked goods
4.  Where the goods retailed are prepacked, then the correct description of the goods, the net quantity and the price thereof shall be displayed.
Prices to be marked on containers
5.  The price of goods sold in bottles, cans, cartons, plastic bags or other containers shall be stamped in ink direct on to each bottle, can, carton, plastic bag or other container and not on to any label which may be attached to the container. Where a container is of such a colour which makes it difficult to display clearly the price by stamping, then the price shall be displayed on a price slip which shall be pasted securely on to the container.
Price on adhesive tape
6.  Where the price stamped on any container can be wiped off easily, then the price shall be shown on a specially treated adhesive tape which shall be stuck on to the container.
Price per unit for certain goods
7.  The price of dry or wet goods which are normally sold in small units of measure from a container or heap shall be displayed in the container or heap. The correct description of the goods, the quantity and the unit of measure to which the price relates shall also be displayed in the container or heap. The prices of such goods shall be capable of being easily read from a distance of two metres.
Offence
8.  Any person who fails to comply with the provisions of this Order shall be guilty of an offence under the Act and shall be liable to incur the penalties prescribed in section 16 of the Act.
