Special Constabulary (Pay and Allowances) Regulations

Citation and application
1.—(1)  These Regulations may be cited as the Special Constabulary (Pay and Allowances) Regulations.
(2)  These Regulations shall not, except for regulation 5, apply to those persons employed as full-time members of the Special Constabulary.
Definitions
2.  In these Regulations, unless the context otherwise requires —
“continuous training” means any period of training in respect of which a member of the Special Constabulary is required —
(a)to complete or serve for a continuous period of not less than 8 hours duration; or
(b)to stay overnight;
“parade” means any period of training, duty or attendance of not more than 4 hours.
Allowances
3.—(1)  Members of the Special Constabulary attending any parade shall be paid an allowance according to their rank as follows:

(2)  The allowance referred to in this regulation shall be paid in respect of each completed hour of training, duty or attendance and no member of the Special Constabulary shall be entitled to payment in respect of any training, duty or attendance of less than an hour.
Allowance for continuous training
4.—(1)  Members of the Special Constabulary who attend continuous training during their first 6 months of service shall be paid an allowance at the rate of $2 per day.
(2)  Members of the Special Constabulary who attend continuous training at any time after having completed 6 months of service shall be paid an allowance at the following rates:

(3)  For the purposes of this regulation, “day” means a period of 24 hours of training.
(4)  Any member of the Special Constabulary who serves a portion of a day shall be entitled to payment of the allowances payable under paragraphs (1) and (2).
Free food and accommodation
5.  Members of the Special Constabulary shall not be charged for any food or accommodation that may be provided for them when they are required to undertake any training, duty or attendance.
