Proclamation 2014
Whereas it is provided by section 3(1) of the Public Order (Preservation) Act that if, in the opinion of the Minister charged with the responsibility for internal security, public order in any area in Singapore is seriously disturbed or is seriously threatened and he considers it to be necessary for the purpose of maintaining or restoring public order in that area to do so, the Minister may proclaim the existence in that area of a state of danger to public order:
And Whereas public order in the area in Singapore known as Little India was seriously disturbed on 8th December 2013:
And Whereas the Minister is of the opinion that public order in that area is seriously threatened and it is necessary to proclaim the existence of a state of danger to public order in the area for the purpose of maintaining public order in that area between 1st and 3rd March 2014:
Now, therefore, I, TEO CHEE HEAN, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs, by virtue of the powers conferred upon me by section 3(1) of the Public Order (Preservation) Act do hereby proclaim, with effect from 6 a.m. of 1st March 2014, the existence of a state of danger to public order in the area which is known as Little India and is more particularly demarcated in the map in the Schedule.
