Road Traffic
(Nanyang Technological University —
Exemption) Order 2022
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 142 of the Road Traffic Act 1961, the Minister for Transport makes the following Order:
Citation and period in force
1.—(1)  This Order is the Road Traffic (Nanyang Technological University — Exemption) Order 2022.
(2)  This Order is in force for the period between 20 January 2022 and 30 March 2023 (both dates inclusive).
Definitions
2.  In this Order —
“research project” means the research project known as the Programme for Micro-Mobility Safety and Utility Research undertaken by Nanyang Technological University from 1 December 2020 to 31 May 2023 (both dates inclusive);
“specified personal mobility device” means a personal mobility device that —
(a)is a registrable personal mobility device registered under Part 3A of the Active Mobility Act 2017;
(b)is not a non-compliant personal mobility device under the Active Mobility Act 2017; and
(c)is used by Nanyang Technological University for the purpose of the research project;
“specified road” means any of the roads delineated by a black‑coloured line in the maps set out in the Schedule.
Exemption for specified personal mobility device riders
3.  Section 5A of the Act does not apply to any individual who rides a specified personal mobility device on a specified road, for or in connection with the research project, if all of the following conditions are satisfied:
(a)the individual is authorised by Nanyang Technological University to ride the specified personal mobility device;
(b)no more than 2 specified personal mobility devices are ridden at any time on the specified road.
