Road Traffic
(Singapore International Triathlon 2024 —
Exemption) Order 2024
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 142 of the Road Traffic Act 1961, the Minister for Home Affairs makes the following Order:
Citation and period in force
1.—(1)  This Order is the Road Traffic (Singapore International Triathlon 2024 — Exemption) Order 2024.
(2)  This Order is in force on 15 September 2024.
Definitions
2.  In this Order —
“specified event” means the Singapore International Triathlon 2024 event organised by Orange Room Pte. Ltd. (UEN 200811733N) on 15 September 2024;
“specified road” means the road delineated by the black‑coloured line in the map set out in the Schedule.
Exemption for riding bicycle
3.  Rules 5, 6, 7, 7A, 8, 10 and 11 of the Road Traffic (Bicycles, Three-wheeled Pedal Cycles, Trishaws and Recumbent Devices — Road Conduct) Rules (R 3) do not apply to an individual who rides a bicycle on the specified road during the specified event under the following conditions:
(a)the individual is a registered participant of the specified event;
(b)there is in force, at any time the bicycle is ridden in connection with the specified event, a policy of insurance in relation to the bicycle insuring against any liability in respect of —
(i)the death of or bodily injury sustained by any person (other than the rider of the bicycle); and
(ii)any property damage suffered by any person (other than the rider of the bicycle),
caused by or arising out of the use of the bicycle;
(c)the risk under the policy of insurance mentioned in sub‑paragraph (b) is assumed by an insurer who, at the time the policy is issued, is lawfully carrying on an insurance business in Singapore.
