(Prescribed Persons)
Rules 2011
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 50(3A) of the Women’s Charter, MG (NS) Chan Chun Sing, Minister of State, charged with the responsibility of the Minister for Community Development, Youth and Sports, hereby makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules may be cited as the Women’s Charter (Mediation and Counselling) (Prescribed Persons) Rules 2011 and shall come into operation on 26th September 2011.
Prescribed persons required to attend mediation or counselling
2.—(1)  The prescribed class of persons for the purposes of section 50(3A) to (3E) of the Act shall comprise both parties to any proceedings under Part X of the Act where —
(a)the proceedings are commenced on or after 26th September 2011 but before 1st July 2013 in respect of the parties’ marriage and the parties have at least one child of the marriage who is below the age of 8 years at the time the proceedings are commenced; or

(b)the proceedings are commenced on or after 1st July 2013 in respect of the parties’ marriage and the parties have at least one child of the marriage who is below the age of 14 years at the time the proceedings are commenced.

(2)  In this rule, “child of the marriage” has the same meaning as in section 92 of the Act.
