An Act to provide for the imposition of surcharge on parking places. |

Short title |
1. This Act may be cited as the Parking Places (Surcharge) Act. |
Interpretation |
2. In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires —

Levy of surcharge |
Power to seek information |
4.—(1) For the purposes of enforcing the provisions of this Act, the Superintendent may, and as often as he thinks necessary, require any person —

Power to compound offences |
5. The Superintendent may accept from any person who is reasonably suspected of having committed an offence under this Act or any of its orders or rules a sum of money not exceeding $500 by way of composition for the offence which may have been committed. |
Surcharges to be paid into Consolidated Fund |
6. All surcharges collected by the Superintendent shall be paid into the Consolidated Fund. |
Exemption |
7. The Minister may exempt any parking place or such part of any parking place from all or any of the provisions of this Act. |
Non-application |
8.—(1) The provisions of this Act and of the Parking Places Act (Cap. 214) shall not apply to private parking places used exclusively in connection with any private dwelling-house for the housing or parking of vehicles kept for private use only.

Rules |
9. The Minister may make rules for the purpose of carrying into effect any of the provisions of this Act. |
