Economic Development Board (Amendment) Bill

An Act to amend the Economic Development Board Ordinance, 1961 (No. 21 of 1961).

Be it enacted by the President with the advice and consent of the Parliament of Singapore, as follows: —

Short title

1. This Act may be cited as the Economic Development Board (Amendment) Act, 1969.

Amendment of section 5

2. Section 5 of the Economic Development Board Ordinance, 1961, is hereby amended —

(a)

by inserting at the end of paragraph (b) of subsection (1) thereof the word “and”;

(b)

by deleting paragraphs (c) and (d) of subsection (1) thereof and substituting therefor the following: —

“(c)	six other members to be appointed by the Minister.”; and

(c)

by deleting the expression “paragraph (d)” appearing in the second line of subsection (4) thereof and substituting therefor the expression “paragraph (c)”.

Amendment of section 16

3. Subsection (1) of section 16 of the Economic Development Board Ordinance, 1961, is hereby amended by inserting immediately after paragraph (o) thereof the following new paragraphs: —

“(oa)	to establish, publish and promote the use of industrial standards in Singapore covering inter alia specifications of quality, safety, performance and dimensions; methods of testing and analysis; procedures for sampling and inspection; and codes of practice with a view to improving quality, industrial efficiency and productivity and promoting trade;
(ob)	to specify standard certification marks to represent the particular Singapore industrial standards and to issue and control licences for their use;”.
