Entertainments Duty (Amendment) Bill

An Act to amend the Entertainments Duty Act (Chapter 136 of the Revised Edition).
Be it enacted by the President with the advice and consent of the Parliament of Singapore, as follows: —
Short title
1.  This Act may be cited as the Entertainments Duty (Amendment) Act, 1973.
Amendment of section 16
2.  Subsection (1) of section 16 of the Entertainments Duty Act (hereinafter in this Act referred to as “the principal Act”) is hereby deleted and the following substituted therefor: —
(1)  An officer of customs may arrest without warrant a person whom he reasonably suspects of committing or attempting to commit or employing, aiding or assisting a person to commit an offence under this Act or any rules made thereunder.”.
Amendment of section 17
3.  Subsection (1) of section 17 of the principal Act is hereby amended by deleting the word “senior” appearing in the first line thereof.
Repeal of section 19
4.  Section 19 of the principal Act is hereby repealed.
Amendment of section 23
5.  Subsection (1) of section 23 of the principal Act is hereby amended by inserting immediately after the word “Act” appearing in the third line thereof the words “or any rules made thereunder”.
