Architects Bill

An Act to provide for the registration of architects and to regulate the qualifications and practice of architects; and to repeal the Architects Act (Chapter 213 of the Revised Edition).
Be it enacted by the President with the advice and consent of the Parliament of Singapore, as follows: —
PART I
PRELIMINARY
Short title and commencement
1.  This Act may be cited as the Architects Act, 1976, and shall come into operation on such date as the Minister may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint.
Interpretation
2.  In this Act, unless the context otherwise requires —
“Board” means the Board of Architects established under section 3;
“building authority” means the Assistant Director (Building Control) of the Public Works Department and any other person required under the provisions of any written law to approve building plans;
“registered architect” means a person registered as an architect under this Act;
“Registrar” means the Registrar of the Board.
