Public Service Commission (Amendment) Bill

An Act to amend the Public Service Commission Act (Chapter 259 of the 1985 Revised Edition).
Be it enacted by the President with the advice and consent of the Parliament of Singapore, as follows:
Short title and commencement
1.  This Act may be cited as the Public Service Commission (Amendment) Act 2007 and shall come into operation on such date as the Minister may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint.
Amendment of long title
2.  The long title to the Public Service Commission Act (referred to in this Act as the principal Act) is amended by deleting the words “Public Service Commission’s functions, for the protection of members of the Commission” and substituting the words “functions of the Public Service Commission and the Legal Service Commission, for the protection of the members of these Commissions”.
Amendment of section 1
3.  Section 1 of the principal Act is amended by inserting, immediately after the words “Public Service Commission”, the words “and Legal Service Commission”.
Amendment of section 2
4.  Section 2 of the principal Act is amended by deleting the words “(referred to in this Act as the Commission)” and substituting the words “or the Legal Service Commission (either of which shall be referred to in this Act as the Commission)”.
Amendment of section 8
5.  Section 8 of the principal Act is amended —
(a)by inserting, immediately after the words “Article 110D”, the words “or 111AA”; and
(b)by deleting the words “Public Service”.
