Post Office (Amendment) Ordinance

An Ordinance to amend the Post Office Ordinance (Chapter 105 of the Revised Edition).
Be it enacted by the Yang di-Pertuan Negara with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of Singapore, as follows: —
Short title
1.  This Ordinance may be cited as the Post Office (Amendment) Ordinance, 1963.
Amendment of section 54
2.  Section 54 of the Post Office Ordinance is hereby amended by deleting subsection (2) thereof and substituting therefor the following: —
(2)  The Postmaster-General shall pay into the Consolidated Fund the amount payable on a money order where a claim in respect thereof is not made within a period of one year from the date of issue of such order:
Provided that the Postmaster-General may in any case where a claim is made after one year but not later than three years from the date of issue of the money order pay the amount of such order to the payee or remitter thereof if he is satisfied that —
(a)there is reasonable cause for the delay in making the claim; or
(b)hardship would be suffered by such payee or remitter if such amount were not paid.”.
