Pineapple Industry (Amendment) Bill

An Act to amend the Pineapple Industry Act (Chapter 197 of the Revised Edition).
Be it enacted by the President with the advice and consent of the Parliament of Singapore, as follows: —
Short title and commencement
1.  This Act may be cited as the Pineapple Industry (Amendment) Act, 1975 and shall come into operation on such date as the Minister may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint.
Amendment of section 3
2.  Subsection (2) of section 3 of the Pineapple Industry Act (hereinafter in this Act referred to as “the principal Act”) is hereby amended by deleting the words “one member” appearing in paragraphs (d) and (e) thereof and substituting therefor in each case the words “two members”.
Amendment of section 5
3.  Subsection (1) of section 5 of the principal Act is hereby amended by deleting the word “four” appearing therein and substituting therefor the word “five”.
Amendment of section 7
4.  Section 7 of the principal Act is hereby amended —
(a)by deleting subsection (2) thereof and substituting therefor the following: —
(2)  There shall be paid into the Fund —
(a)the proceeds of any such cess as is referred to in section 8 of this Act;
(b)all moneys belonging to the Board; and
(c)all moneys as may be provided from time to time by Parliament to be applied for such purpose as may be specified by Parliament.
(2A)  The Fund may be applied by the Board —
(a)for such purpose as the Board considers necessary in carrying out its functions; and
(b)for granting a loan to any employee of the Board to enable him —
(i)to purchase or build a house for his occupation and to meet all legal costs incidental thereto; or
(ii)to purchase a motor vehicle for his use,
on such terms and conditions as may be prescribed.”; and
(b)by deleting the full-stop appearing at the end of subsection (4) thereof and substituting therefor a colon and by inserting immediately thereafter the following proviso: —
Provided that the Minister may direct the Board to keep a separate account in respect of moneys provided by Parliament under paragraph (c) of subsection (2) of this section.”.
