An Act to amend the Motor Vehicles (Third-Party Risks and Compensation) Act (Chapter 189 of the 1985 Revised Edition). |
Be it enacted by the President with the advice and consent of the Parliament of Singapore, as follows: |
Short title and commencement |
1. This Act may be cited as the Motor Vehicles (Third-Party Risks and Compensation) (Amendment) Act 1994 and shall come into operation on such date as the Minister may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint. |
Amendment of section 6 |
2. Section 6(1) of the Motor Vehicles (Third-Party Risks and Compensation) Act (referred to in this Act as the principal Act) is amended by deleting “$500” in the first line and substituting “$5,000”. |
Amendment of section 9 |
3. Section 9 of the principal Act is amended —

Amendment of section 18 |
4. Section 18(3) of the principal Act is amended by inserting, immediately after the words “subsection (2)” in the fourth line, the words “, except in respect of a judgment or settlement for a sum not exceeding $5,000,”. |
