Pensions (Amendment) Bill

An Act to amend the Pensions Act (Chapter 55 of the Revised Edition).
Be it enacted by the President with the advice and consent of the Parliament of Singapore, as follows: —
Short title and commencement
1.  This Act may be cited as the Pensions (Amendment) Act, 1981, and shall come into operation on the 1st day of January 1982.
Amendment of section 2
2.  Section 2 of the Pensions Act is amended —
(a)by deleting the definition of “pensionable emoluments” and substituting the following definition: —
“ “pensionable emoluments” means —
(a)in respect of public service in Singapore —
(i)the basic salary attached to a pensionable office or, in the case of an officer serving in a pensionable class, the basic salary payable to that officer as an officer of that class;
(ii)any personal pensionable allowance; and
(iii)such other allowances as may be prescribed by regulations to be pensionable allowances; and
(b)in respect of other public service, emoluments which count for pension under any law or regulation in force relating to that service;”; and
(b)by deleting the definition of “salary”.
