Local Government Integration (Amendment) Bill

An Act to amend the Local Government Integration Ordinance, 1963 (No. 18 of 1963).

Be it enacted by the President with the advice and consent of the Parliament of Singapore, as follows: —

Short title and commencement

1. This Act may be cited as the Local Government Integration (Amendment) Act, 1969, and shall come into operation on such date as the Minister may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint.

Amendment of section 3

2. Subsection (1) of section 3 of the Local Government Integration Ordinance, 1963, is hereby amended by inserting immediately after the definition of “street works” appearing therein the following new definition: —

“ “trade effluent” means the water-borne waste of any trade, business or manufacture;”.

Amendment of section 43

3. Section 43 of the Local Government Integration Ordinance, 1963, is hereby amended —

(a)

by deleting subsection (1) thereof and substituting therefor the following: —

“(1) The Director may at any time apply any system of sewage and trade effluent removal to such houses, lands, buildings and tenements as he thinks fit.”;

(b)

by inserting immediately after subsection (1) thereof the following new subsection: —

“(2) The Director may charge such fees as may be prescribed —

(a)	in respect of sanitary fittings or other fittings which discharge waste into the sewerage system; and
(b)	in respect of the amount of water used in such houses, lands, buildings and tenements.”; and

(c)

by renumbering the existing subsection (2) thereof as subsection (3).
