National Statistical Commission of Singapore (Amendment) Bill

An Act to amend the National Statistical Commission of Singapore Act, 1971 (No. 27 of 1971).
Be it enacted by the President with the advice and consent of the Parliament of Singapore, as follows: —
Short title and commencement
1.  This Act may be cited as the National Statistical Commission of Singapore (Amendment) Act, 1972 and shall come into operation on such date as the Minister may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint.
Amendment of section 2
2.  Subsection (1) of section 2 of the National Statistical Commission of Singapore Act, 1971 (hereinafter in this Act referred to as “the principal Act”) is hereby amended by inserting immediately after the definition of “Commission” appearing therein the following new definition: —
“ “financial year” means a period of twelve months ending on the 31st day of March in any year:
Provided that for the year 1972 the financial year shall mean the period between the 7th day of January, 1972 and the 31st day of March 1973;”.
Amendment of section 13
3.  Subsection (1) of section 13 of the principal Act is hereby amended by deleting the word “January” appearing therein and substituting therefor the word “July”.
Amendment of section 15
4.  Subsection (1) of section 15 of the principal Act is hereby deleted and the following substituted therefor: —
(1)  The Commission shall keep proper accounts and other records of its activities and proceedings and shall prepare in respect of each financial year a statement of its accounts in a form approved by the Minister.”.
