National Computer Board (Amendment) Bill

An Act to amend the National Computer Board Act (Chapter 195 of the 1985 Revised Edition).
Be it enacted by the President with the advice and consent of the Parliament of Singapore, as follows:
Short title and commencement
1.  This Act may be cited as the National Computer Board (Amendment) Act 1989 and shall come into operation on such date as the Minister may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint.
Amendment of section 5
2.  Section 5(1) of the National Computer Board Act (referred to in this Act as the principal Act) is amended by deleting the words “8 members” in the first line and substituting the words “12 members”.
Amendment of section 7
3.  Section 7(1) of the principal Act is amended by deleting the words “4 members” and substituting the words “5 members”.
Amendment of section 11
4.  Section 11(1) of the principal Act is amended —
(a)by deleting the word “industry” in paragraph (a) and substituting the words “and computer-based information services industries”;
(b)by inserting, immediately after the word “concerning” in paragraph (f), the words “information technology and”;
(c)by inserting, immediately after the word “services” in paragraphs (g) and (h), in each case the words “or computer-based information services”;
(d)by deleting the word “and” at the end of paragraph (h); and
(e)by deleting the full-stop at the end of paragraph (i) and substituting the word “; and”, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following paragraph:
(j)to promote the acceptance and use of information technology in Singapore.”.
