Architects (Amendment) Bill

An Act to amend the Architects Act, 1976 (No. 14 of 1976).
Be it enacted by the President with the advice and consent of the Parliament of Singapore, as follows: —
Short title and commencement
1.  This Act may be cited as the Architects (Amendment) Act, 1979, and shall come into operation on such date as the Minister may, by notification in the Gazette, appoint.
Amendment of section 8
2.  Section 8 of the Architects Act, 1976, is amended by deleting subsection (2) and substituting the following: —
(2)  No person shall be entitled to registration under paragraph (a), (b) or (c) of subsection (1) unless he can satisfy the Board that he has after qualifying —
(a)practical experience in architectural work in Singapore for a continuous period of twelve months and has passed such professional practice examination as may be prescribed or approved by the Board;
(b)practical experience in architectural work for not less than five years, of which at least two years shall be practical experience gained in architectural work in Singapore; or
(c)such practical experience in architectural work for not less than ten years as may be recognised by the Board:
Provided that the Minister may after consultation with the Board exempt, subject to such conditions as he thinks fit, any person from the requirements of this subsection.”.
