An Act to amend the Stamp Act (Chapter 147 of the Revised Edition). |
Be it enacted by the President with the advice and consent of the Parliament of Singapore, as follows: — |
Short title |
1. This Act may be cited as the Stamp (Amendment) Act, 1975. |
Amendment of long title |
2. The long title of the Stamp Act is hereby amended by deleting the word “stamps” appearing at the end thereof and substituting therefor the words “stamp duties”. |
Amendment of section 1 |
3. Section 1 of the Stamp Act is hereby amended by deleting the words “Stamp Act” appearing therein and substituting therefor the words “Stamp Duties Act”. |
Amendment of section 9 |
4. Section 9 of the Stamp Act is hereby amended —

New section 9A |
New section 20A |
6. The Stamp Act is hereby amended by inserting immediately after section 20 thereof the following section: —

Amendment of section 36 |
7. Section 36 of the Stamp Act is hereby amended by inserting immediately after the word “dollars” appearing in the seventh line of subsection (1) thereof the words “in any case involving immovable property or ten dollars in any other case”. |
Amendment of section 65 |
8. Section 65 of the Stamp Act is hereby amended by deleting the expression “, letter of renunciation, share certificate or marketable security” appearing in paragraph (c) of subsection (1) thereof and substituting therefor the words “or letter of renunciation”. |
Repeal and re-enactment of section 80 |
9. Section 80 of the Stamp Act is hereby repealed and the following substituted therefor: —

Miscellaneous amendments |
10. The provisions of the Stamp Act specified in the first column of the Schedule to this Act are hereby amended in the manner set out in the second column thereof. |
Consequential amendments |
11. In any written law or document any reference to the Stamp Act and to the Commissioner of Stamps shall be construed as a reference to the Stamp Duties Act and to the Commissioner of Stamp Duties respectively. |
