Legal Profession (Amendment) Bill

An Act to amend the Legal Profession Act (Chapter 217 of the Revised Edition).
Be it enacted by the President with the advice and consent of the Parliament of Singapore, as follows: —
Short title
1.  This Act may be cited as the Legal Profession (Amendment) Act, 1972.
Amendment of section 30
2.  Subsection (2) of section 30 of the Legal Profession Act (hereinafter in this Act referred to as the “principal Act”) is hereby amended by inserting immediately after the word “Authority” appearing in the fifth line thereof the words “or a member of the Legal Service”.
Amendment of section 45
3.  Subsection (2) of section 45 of the principal Act is hereby deleted and the following substituted therefor: —
(2)  Only practitioner members shall be eligible to attend and vote at any general meeting but only such practitioner members who are citizens of Singapore shall be elected to the Council.”.
Amendment of section 66
4.  Subsection (2) of section 66 of the principal Act is hereby amended by deleting the word “Seven” appearing in the first line thereof and substituting therefor the word “Five”.
