Currency (Amendment) Bill

An Act to amend the Currency Act, 1967 (No. 5 of 1967).
Be it enacted by the President with the advice and consent of the Parliament of Singapore, as follows: —
Short title
1.  This Act may be cited as the Currency (Amendment) Act, 1969.
Amendment of section 14
2.  Subsection (2) of section 14 of the Currency Act, 1967 (hereinafter in this Act referred to as “the principal Act”) is hereby amended by deleting sub-paragraphs (i) and (ii) of paragraph (b) thereof and substituting therefor the following: —
(i)in the case of coins of the denomination exceeding one dollar, for the payment of any amount;
(ii)in the case of coins of the denomination of fifty cents and one dollar, for the payment of an amount not exceeding ten dollars; and
(iii)in the case of coins of the denomination lower than fifty cents, for the payment of an amount not exceeding two dollars.”.
Amendment of section 19
3.  Subsection (3) of section 19 of the principal Act is hereby amended by deleting the words “not exceeding one dollar” appearing in the second line thereof.
Amendment of section 30
4.  Subsection (1) of section 30 of the principal Act is hereby amended by deleting the word “which” appearing in the third line thereof and substituting therefor the words “and the accounts”.
