1. These Regulations may be cited as the Education Endowment Scheme (Edusave Merit Bursaries) Regulations. |
Definitions |
2. In these Regulations, unless the context otherwise requires —

Establishment of Edusave Merit Bursaries |
Value and payment of bursary |
4.—(1) The value of the Edusave Merit Bursary shall be —

Eligible pupils |
5.—(1) Subject to paragraph (2), a pupil of a primary or secondary school or a junior college or a full-time pupil of a training institute shall be eligible for the Edusave Merit Bursary in any year if —

Principal to invite applicants for Edusave Merit Bursary |
6.—(1) Subject to paragraph (3), the principal of a primary or secondary school or junior college or the training manager of a training institute shall, as soon as possible after the completion of the year-end examinations for all pupils enrolled in the school, junior college or training institute, as the case may be, cause an invitation to apply for the Edusave Merit Bursary to be sent out to such number, as the principal or training manager thinks fit, of pupils of the school, junior college or training institute who satisfy the conditions specified in regulation 5(1)(a) and (c), (d) or (e).

Completion and submission of application forms |
7.—(1) The parent or guardian of a pupil who has been invited to apply for the Edusave Merit Bursary under regulation 6 shall, if the pupil wishes to apply for the bursary —

Bursary Committee to select pupils for Edusave Merit Bursary |
8.—(1) The Bursary Committee of a constituency or division of a group representation constituency shall select the applicants to be awarded the Edusave Merit Bursary.

9.—(1) Subject to paragraph (2), where the Citizens’ Consultative Committee of any constituency or division of a group representation constituency has established a bursary for the purpose of providing financial assistance to pupils who —
