1.  This Notification may be cited as the Work Permit (Exemption) (Consolidation) Notification.
2.—(1)  Any person who employs or wishes to employ a foreign worker —
(a)who is a permanent resident of Singapore; or
(b)who holds an employment pass issued under the Immigration Regulations (Cap. 133, Rg 1),
is hereby exempted from applying for a work permit under section 7 of the Act in respect of that foreign worker.
(2)  For the purposes of this paragraph, “permanent resident” includes the holder of a Singapore blue identity card and a person who holds an entry permit issued by the Controller of Immigration.

3.—(1)  Any person who employs or wishes to employ a foreign worker as an officer or seaman on an international voyage aboard any Singapore ship registered under the Merchant Shipping Act (Cap. 179) is hereby exempted from applying for a work permit under section 7 of the Act in respect of that foreign worker.
(2)  In this paragraph, “international voyage”, “officer” and “seaman” have the same meanings as in the Merchant Shipping Act.

4.  Any person who employs or wishes to employ a foreign worker, who is 14 years of age or above and is a full-time matriculated or registered student of —
(a)the National University of Singapore;
(b)the Nanyang Technological University;
(c)the Singapore Management University;
(d)the LaSalle-SIA College of the Arts;
(e)the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts;
(f)the INSEAD, Singapore;
(g)the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business in Singapore;
(h)the Singapore Polytechnic;
(i)the Ngee Ann Polytechnic;
(j)the Nanyang Polytechnic;
(k)the Temasek Polytechnic;
(l)the Institute of Technical Education, Singapore;
(m)a Government Secondary School;
(n)a Government-aided Secondary School;
(o)the American College;
(p)the Australian International School;
(q)the International Community School;
(r)the Canadian International School;
(s)the Lycee Francais De Singapour;
(t)the Chatsworth International School;
(u)the German School;
(v)the Hollandse School;
(w)the I S S International School;
(x)the Overseas Family School;
(y)the Sekolah Indonesia;
(z)the Shibuya Makuhari Senior High School;

(za)the Singapore American School;
(zb)the Swiss School;
(zc)the Japanese School (Secondary School);
(zd)the United World College of South East Asia;

and who is on vacation, is hereby exempted from applying for a work permit under section 7 of the Act in respect of that foreign worker.

5.—(1)  Any person who employs or wishes to employ a foreign worker who is a full-time matriculated or registered student of —
(a)the National University of Singapore;
(b)the Nanyang Technological University;
(c)the Singapore Management University;
(d)the LaSalle-SIA College of the Arts;
(e)the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts;
(f)the INSEAD, Singapore;
(g)the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business in Singapore;
(h)the Singapore Polytechnic;
(i)the Ngee Ann Polytechnic;
(j)the Temasek Polytechnic;
(k)the Nanyang Polytechnic;
(l)the Practice Performing Arts School;

(m)the Tanglin Trust School,
is hereby exempted from applying for a work permit under section 7 of the Act in respect of that foreign worker.

(2)  This paragraph shall not apply in respect of a foreign worker who is required to work for more than 16 hours a week.
