Citation
1.  This Notification may be cited as the Environmental Public Health (Qualifications of Environmental Control Officers) Notification.
Qualifications
2.  A person may be employed as an Environmental Control Officer if he has successfully completed a training course for Environmental Control Officers conducted by the Ministry of the Environment and —
(a)had obtained —
(i)a degree from the National University of Singapore, the Nanyang Technological University, or other university or institution of higher learning which is acceptable to the Commissioner;
(ii)a diploma from the National University of Singapore, the Nanyang Technological University, or other university or institution of higher learning which, in the opinion of the Commissioner, is in a professional field relevant to the work to be performed by an Environmental Control Officer under the Act, and has at least one year’s working experience in environmental engineering, pest control, estate management, environmental health or other work which, in the opinion of the Commissioner, is relevant to the work to be performed by an Environmental Control Officer under the Act; or
(iii)a technician diploma from a polytechnic established by written law or other educational institution acceptable to the Commissioner, and has at least 2 years’ working experience in environmental engineering, pest control, estate management, environmental health or other work which, in the opinion of the Commissioner, is relevant to the work to be performed by an Environmental Control Officer under the Act; or
(b)had been registered as a safety officer under the Factories (Qualifications and Training of Safety Officers) Notification (Cap. 104, N 1), and his certificate of registration has not expired or been cancelled.
