Citation |
1. These Rules may be cited as the Government Hospitals (Fees) Rules. |

2. In these Rules, unless the context otherwise requires —

Fees |
Non-resident patients |
4.—(1) A non-resident who is treated as an inpatient in a hospital shall pay the fees chargeable under these Rules at class A rates, except the daily ward fee which shall be in accordance with the class of ward to which he is admitted. In addition, he shall pay a surcharge of 30% on the total hospital bill.

Psychiatric and chronically sick patients |
5.—(1) Except for the fees as specified in items 2 and 7 of the Schedule, a psychiatric sick patient in View Road Hospital shall not be required to pay any other fees for the duration of his stay in the class C ward.

Transfer to higher class ward |
6. Subject to paragraphs 3, 4 and 5, any patient except a Woodbridge Hospital patient who is admitted to a hospital ward and who is transferred to a higher class ward at his request shall pay, from the date of his admission to the hospital, the treatment fees and any other fees (except the ward fees) chargeable under these Rules at the rate specified for the higher class ward. |
Persons not required to pay fees |
7.—(1) A person who having been committed to the Woodbridge Hospital pursuant to Chapter XXXI of the Criminal Procedure Code or section 25 or 35 of the Mental Disorders and Treatment Act [Cap. 178], is admitted to a class C ward of the Hospital for observation, treatment or detention shall not be required to pay any fee under these Rules.

Director may waive fees |
8. The Director of Medical Services may, in his discretion, waive the fees payable by any person for the treatment of any infectious disease. |
