Citation

1. These Regulations may be cited as the Public Utilities (Tariffs for Gas) Regulations.

Definitions

2. In these Regulations, unless the context otherwise requires —

“fuel” means any substance which may from time to time be utilised by the Board as a source for gas;

“one unit” means 3,600 kilojoules.

Prices

3.—(1) The prices to be charged for gas supplied by the Board shall be in accordance with the tariffs set out in the Schedule.

(2) Such prices shall be increased or decreased by 0.011 cent for each unit for every dollar per tonne increase or decrease in the cost to the Board of fuel.

(3) The increase or decrease in the cost to the Board of fuel shall be calculated on a basic fuel price of $360 per tonne for a calorific value of approximately 48,000 kilojoules per kilogram.

(4) For the purposes of paragraph (2), the Board may, by notification in the Gazette, declare from time to time the increase or decrease in the cost to the Board of fuel.

General Tariff

4. The General Tariff set out in Part I of the Schedule shall be applicable to the supply of gas to all consumers unless an application to be charged in accordance with the Bulk Tariff set out in Part II of the Schedule has been made by the consumer and approved by the Board.

Bulk Tariff

5. Where the Board has approved a consumer’s application to be charged in accordance with either Bulk Tariff A or Bulk Tariff B set out in Part II of the Schedule, the consumer shall be charged for —

(a)	the minimum consumption of gas prescribed in that Part for Bulk Tariff A, if the total amount of gas consumed in a month is less than the minimum consumption specified for Bulk Tariff A; or
(b)	the minimum consumption of gas agreed between the consumer and the Board for Bulk Tariff B, which shall not be less than 50,000 units per month, if the amount of gas consumed in a month is less than the minimum comsumption so agreed.

BULK TARIFF CHARGES PRIOR TO 1ST OCTOBER 1991

6. Notwithstanding regulation 5, where the Board has approved a consumer’s application to be charged in accordance with Bulk Tariff B prior to 1st October 1991, the consumer shall be charged for 50,000 units per month if the total amount of gas consumed in a month is less than 50,000 units.
