Travel Agents
(Amendment) Regulations 2024

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 28 of the Travel Agents Act 1975, the Singapore Tourism Board, with the approval of the Minister for Trade and Industry, makes the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

1.—(1) These Regulations are the Travel Agents (Amendment) Regulations 2024 and, except for regulations 2, 3 and 4, come into operation on 1 January 2025.

(2) Regulations 2, 3 and 4 are deemed to have come into operation on 31 December 2021.

Amendment of regulation 2

2. In the Travel Agents Regulations 2017 (G.N. No. S 761/2017) (called in these Regulations the principal Regulations), in regulation 2 —

(a)

replace the definition of “guiding services” with —

“ “guiding services” has the meaning given by section 20(1) of the Singapore Tourism Board Act 1963;”;

(b)

replace the definition of “institution of a public character” with —

“ “institution of a public character” has the meaning given by section 40 of the Charities Act 1994;”; and

(c)

replace the definitions of “tourist” and “tourist guide” with —

“ “tourist” has the meaning given by section 20(1) of the Singapore Tourism Board Act 1963;

“tourist guide” has the meaning given by section 20(1) of the Singapore Tourism Board Act 1963.”.

Amendment of regulation 16

3. In the principal Regulations, in regulation 16 —

(a)

in paragraph (a), replace “section 19D(4)(a) of the Singapore Tourism Board Act (Cap. 305B)” with “section 23(4)(a) of the Singapore Tourism Board Act 1963”; and

(b)

replace paragraph (b) with —

“(b)	a tourist guide who is exempt from section 21(1) of the Singapore Tourism Board Act 1963 by reason of section 21(2) of that Act or under section 43 of that Act.”.

Amendment of regulation 21

4. In the principal Regulations, in regulation 21(2)(a), delete “(Act 29 of 2014)”.

Amendment of Schedule

5. In the principal Regulations, in the Schedule, delete item 4.
