Patents (Amendment) Rules 1996
In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 110 and 115 of the Patents Act, the Minister for Law hereby makes the following Rules:
1.  These Rules shall be cited as the Patents (Amendment) Rules 1996 and shall be deemed to have come into operation on 24th February 1996.
2.  Rule 113 of the Patents Rules 1995 is amended by inserting, immediately after paragraph (7), the following paragraphs:
(8)  Subject to paragraph (10), the time limit of 12 months specified in subsection (6) of section 116 for the making of an application under that subsection for the grant of a patent under the Act is extended for a period of 50 days, that is to say, the last day for the making of an application under that subsection shall be 13th April 1996.
(9)  Rules 102(2) and 103(3), (4) and (5) shall not apply to any application made under section 116 (6) for the grant of a patent under the Act during the period of extension of time under paragraph (8).
(10)  Any application made under section 116 (6) for the grant of a patent under the Act during the period of extension of time under paragraph (8) shall be made on Patents Form 56, in addition to the requirements of rules 19 and 125, at the time the patent application is filed in Singapore.”.

3.  The First Schedule to the Patents Rules 1995 is amended by deleting the full-stop at the end of item 56 and by inserting immediately thereafter the following item:

4.  The Second Schedule to the Patents Rules 1995 is amended by inserting, immediately after Patents Form 55, the following Form:
“ UNKNOWN”.
