Singapore Armed Forces Act
(Chapter 295)
Singapore Armed Forces (Pensions) (Amendment) Regulations 2005
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 205 of the Singapore Armed Forces Act, the Armed Forces Council hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Singapore Armed Forces (Pensions) (Amendment) Regulations 2005 and shall be deemed to have come into operation on 5th April 2004.
Amendment of regulation 37
2.  Regulation 37(1) of the Singapore Armed Forces (Pensions) Regulations (Rg 9) is amended by deleting the words “equal to” in sub-paragraphs (b), (d) and (e) and substituting in each case the words “that is not less than”.
Amendment of regulation 52
3.  Regulation 52 of the Singapore Armed Forces (Pensions) Regulations is amended —
(a)by deleting paragraph (1) and substituting the following paragraph:
(1)  Where a member dies as a result of any injury received in and which is attributable to service, the Armed Forces Council may pay to his dependants or personal representatives —
(a)a pension under regulation 39; and
(b)one of the following:
(i)in the case of a member referred to in regulation 37 (1)(a), (c), (d) or (e), a sum equivalent to the lump sum calculated for the death of a workman under the Third Schedule to the Workmen’s Compensation Act (Cap. 354), as if the member had been a workman under that Act, and a gratuity under regulation 37; or
(ii)in the case of a member referred to in regulation 37 (1)(b) —
(A)a sum equivalent to the lump sum calculated for the death of a workman under the Third Schedule to the Workmen’s Compensation Act, as if the member had been a workman under that Act, and a gratuity under regulation 37; or
(B)a sum equivalent to one year’s civilian remuneration of that member, if applicable,
whichever is the greater.”; and
(b)by deleting the words “equal to” in paragraph (2) and substituting the words “, to be determined by the Armed Forces Council, of at least”.
