Town Councils Act
(Chapter 329A)
Town Council of Jalan Besar (Conservancy and Service Charges) (Amendment) By-laws 2002
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 24(1) of the Town Councils Act, the Town Council for the Town of Jalan Besar hereby makes the following By-laws:
Citation and commencement
1.  These By-laws may be cited as the Town Council of Jalan Besar (Conservancy and Service Charges) (Amendment) By-laws 2002 and shall come into operation on 1st April 2002.
New by-law 2A
2.  The Town Council of Jalan Besar (Conservancy and Service Charges) By-laws (By 71) are amended by inserting, immediately after by-law 2, the following by-law:
“Application of By-laws to any area of former Town of City Centre
2A.  With effect from 1st April 2002, these By-laws shall apply to any area of the former Town of City Centre which is now comprised in the Town of Jalan Besar by virtue of the Town Councils (Declaration of Towns) Order 2001 (G.N. No. S 563/2001).”.
Amendment of Schedule
3.  The Schedule to the Town Council of Jalan Besar (Conservancy and Service Charges) By-laws is amended —
(a)by deleting item 1 and substituting the following item:
“
1. 1-room flat
$52
 
$18.50
”;
(b)by deleting item 9 and substituting the following items:
“
9. Shop or office with air-conditioning
$5 per square metre of the area of the shop or office subject to a minimum of $140.
9A. Shop or office without air-conditioning
$1.41 per square metre of the area of the shop or office subject to a minimum of $45.
”; and
(c)by deleting sub-paragraph (a) of item 11 (1) and substituting the following sub-paragraph:
“
(a) Cooked food stall
$126 for every 10 square metres of the stall area or part thereof.
”.
