Consumer Protection (Trade Descriptions and Safety Requirements) Act
(Chapter 53)
Consumer Protection (Safety Requirements) (Amendment) Regulations 1996
In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 11 and 32 of the Consumer Protection (Trade Descriptions and Safety Requirements) Act, the Minister for Trade and Industry hereby makes the following Regulations:
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Consumer Protection (Safety Requirements) (Amendment) Regulations 1996 and shall come into operation on 1st April 1996.

2.  Regulation 2 of the Consumer Protection (Safety Requirements) Regulations (referred to in these Regulations as the principal Regulations) is amended by deleting the definition of “Safety Authority” and substituting the following definition:
“ “Safety Authority” means the Singapore Productivity and Standards Board established under the Singapore Productivity and Standards Board Act 1995.

3.  Regulation 6 of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting the words “Singapore Institute of Standards and Industrial Research Act” in the second and third lines and substituting the words “Singapore Productivity and Standards Board Act 1995”.
4.  Regulation 12 of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting the words “Singapore Institute of Standards and Industrial Research Act” in the fourth and fifth lines and substituting the words “Singapore Productivity and Standards Board Act 1995”.
5.  Item 21 of the Schedule to the principal Regulations is amended by inserting, immediately after the word “supply” in the second line of the first column, the words “a.c. or”.
