Education Act
(Chapter 87)
Education (Schools) (Amendment) Regulations 2004
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 61(1) of the Education Act, Mr Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Senior Minister of State, charged with the responsibility of the Minister for Education, hereby makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Schools) (Amendment) Regulations 2004 and shall come into operation on 1st April 2004.
Amendment of regulation 89
2.  Regulation 89 of the Education (Schools) Regulations (Rg 1) (referred to in these Regulations as the principal Regulations) is amended —
(a)by deleting the definition of “Examinations Fund”;
(b)by inserting, immediately after the definition of “Government-aided school”, the following definition:
“ “national examinations” has the same meaning as in the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board Act 2003 (Act 32 of 2003);”; and
(c)by deleting the full-stop at the end of the definition of “School Fund” and substituting a semi-colon, and by inserting immediately thereafter the following definition:
“ “Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board” means the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board established under section 3 of the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board Act 2003.”.
Amendment of regulation 90
3.  Regulation 90 of the principal Regulations is amended —
(a)by deleting the words “and an Examinations Fund” in paragraph (1);
(b)by deleting paragraph (3); and
(c)by deleting the words “and Examinations Fund” in the regulation heading.
Amendment of regulation 91
4.  Regulation 91 of the principal Regulations is amended —
(a)by deleting sub-paragraph (d) of paragraph (1) and substituting the following sub-paragraph:
(d)examination fees in respect of any of the national examinations, for and on behalf of the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board;”; and
(b)by deleting paragraph (6) and substituting the following paragraph:
(6)  The fees collected under paragraph (1)(d) shall be paid to the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board.”.
Deletion and substitution of regulation 93
5.  Regulation 93 of the principal Regulations is deleted and the following regulation substituted therefor:
Examination fees collected from private candidates
93.  All examination fees payable by persons who are not pupils of a Government or Government-aided school in respect of any of the national examinations shall be paid to the Singapore Examinations and Assessment Board.”.
