Legal Profession (Qualified Persons) (Amendment) Rules 2004

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 2(2) of the Legal Profession Act, the Minister for Law, after consultation with the Board of Legal Education, hereby makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules may be cited as the Legal Profession (Qualified Persons) (Amendment) Rules 2004 and shall come into operation on 30th March 2004.

Amendment of rule 6

2. Rule 6 of the Legal Profession (Qualified Persons) Rules (R 15) (referred to in these Rules as the principal Rules) is amended —

(a)	by deleting the words “Any person” and substituting the words “Any citizen or permanent resident of Singapore”; and
(b)	by deleting the word “Persons” in the rule heading and substituting the words “Citizens and permanent residents of Singapore”.

Amendment of rule 7

3. Rule 7 of the principal Rules is amended —

(a)	by deleting the words “any person” and substituting the words “any citizen or permanent resident of Singapore”; and
(b)	by deleting the word “Persons” in the rule heading and substituting the words “Citizens and permanent residents of Singapore”.

Amendment of rule 8

4. Rule 8 of the principal Rules is amended —

(a)	by deleting the words “any person” in paragraphs (1) and (2) and substituting in each case the words “any citizen or permanent resident of Singapore”; and
(b)	by deleting the word “Persons” in the rule heading and substituting the words “Citizens and permanent residents of Singapore”. [G.N. No. S 348/2003]
