Fisheries (Fish Processing Establishments) (Amendment) Rules 1997
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 7 of the Fisheries Act, the Minister for National Development hereby makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Rules may be cited as the Fisheries (Fish Processing Establishments) (Amendment) Rules 1997 and shall come into operation on 1st April 1997.
Deletion and substitution of Schedule
2.  The Schedule to the Fisheries (Fish Processing Establishments) Rules (R 5) is deleted and the following Schedule substituted therefor:
THE SCHEDULE
Rules 7, 17 and 18
1.For a fish processing establishment licence —
 
(a)for a period of one year
$200
(b)for a period of 3 years
$600
2.For a certificate of fitness for consumption of processed fish and fish products for export or any other certificate with respect to the processing of fish
$20 per certificate (in triplicate)
3.For a certified true copy of document
$6 per copy
4.For food analysis:
 
(a)Bacteriological tests comprising total plate count, E. coli or Coliform count, Staph. aureus count, detection of Salmonella, Shigella and Vibrio cholera
$100 per sample
(b)Enumeration of indicator micro-organisms
$30 per test
(c)Test for food pathogens
$40 per test
(d)Test for anaerobic bacteria
$50 per test
(e)Commercial sterility test
$10 per test
(f)Laboratory analysis:
 
(i)General chemical, physical and nutrients test
$30 per test
(ii)Moisture or ash
$18 per test
(iii)Salt or silica
$20 per test
(iv)pH
$10 per test
(v)Mercury
$35 per test
(vi)Chemical test for freshness indicators or colouring matter or preservatives or Vitamin C by HPLC method

(vii)Heavy metals

 for one amino acid

 for 2 to 17 amino acids

$100 per group of pesticides and an additional $70 for every pesticide detected other than dithiocarbamate as total CS2, per sample
(i)Species identification of meat or fish by isoelectric focusing electrophoresis
$200 per 10 samples or part thereof
(j)Testing of Beta-Agonist drug residues by Enzyme Immuno-Assay (EIA) Screening
$20 per test
(k)Testing of Beta-Agonist drug residues by Gas Chromatography Mass Spectrometric Detector (GC-MSD)
$100 per test
(l)Testing of anti-microbial drug residues in food by Enzyme Immuno-Assay (EIA) Screening
$30 per test
(m)Examination of parasites in food samples
$35 per test
(n)Testing of Staphylococcal Enterotoxin in food by Enzyme Immuno-Assay (EIA) Screening
$150 per 5 samples or part thereof
5.Inspection of processed fish and fish products for export —
 
(a)professional service fee
(i)$50 per hour or part thereof
 
(ii)$100 per hour or part thereof (outside office hours or on an urgent basis)
(b)technical service fee
(i)$30 per hour or part thereof
 
(ii)$60 per hour or part thereof (outside office hours or on an urgent basis).”.
