Slaughter-houses and Meat Processing Factories Act

Meat Processing Factories (Control and Licensing) (Amendment) Rules 1997
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 14 of the Slaughter-houses and Meat Processing Factories Act, the Minister for National Development hereby makes the following Rules:
Citation and commencement
1.   These Rules may be cited as the Meat Processing Factories (Control and Licensing) (Amendment) Rules 1997 and shall come into operation on 1st April 1997.
Amendment of rule 7
2.  Rule 7(a) of the Meat Processing Factories (Control and Licensing) Rules (R 2) is amended by deleting “$180” in sub-paragraph (i) and “$540” in sub-paragraph (ii) and substituting “$200” and “$600”, respectively.
Amendment of Schedule
3.  The Schedule to the Meat Processing Factories (Control and Licensing) Rules is amended by deleting items 2 to 5 and substituting the following items:

(a)Bacteriological tests comprising total plate count, E. coli or Coliform count, Staph. Aureus count, detection of Salmonella, Shigella and Vibrio cholera

 for 2 to 17 amino acids

(g)Radioactive atomic fallouts

(h)Pesticide residue analysis
$100 per group of pesticides and an additional $70 for every pesticide detected other than dithiocarbamate as total CS2, per sample
(i)Species identification of meat or fish by isoelectric focusing electrophoresis
$200 per 10 samples or part thereof
(j)Testing of Beta-Agonist drug residues by Enzyme Immuno-Assay (EIA) Screening
$20 per test
(k)Testing of Beta-Agonist drug residues by Gas Chromatography Mass Specstrometric Detector (GC-MSD)
$100 per test
(l)Testing of anti-microbial drug residues in food by Enzyme Immuno-Assay (EIA) Screening
$30 per test
(m)Examination of parasites in food samples
$35 per test
(n)Testing of Staphylococcal Enterotoxin in food by Enzyme Immuno-Assay (EIA) Screening
$150 per 5 samples or part thereof
4.Inspection of processed meat and meat products for export:
 
(a)Professional service fee
(i)$50 per hour or part thereof
 
(ii)$100 per hour or part thereof (outside office hours or on an urgent basis)
(b)Technical service fee
(i)$30 per hour or part thereof
 
(ii)$60 per hour or part thereof (outside office hours or on an urgent basis).
