Pingat Bakti Setia (The Long Service Medal)
(Amendment) Rules 2017

The President makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules are the Pingat Bakti Setia (The Long Service Medal) (Amendment) Rules 2017 and come into operation on 13 January 2017.

Amendment of rule 3

2. Rule 3(1) of the Pingat Bakti Setia (The Long Service Medal) Rules 1996 (G.N. No. S 339/96) is amended —

(a)

by deleting the words “in the service of”; and

(b)

by deleting sub‑paragraphs (a) to (e) and substituting the following sub‑paragraphs:

“(a)	in the service of the Government;
(b)	in the service of any statutory authority (other than a Town Council);
(c)	in the service of any organisation, association or body rendering services in the field of education;
(d)	in the service of any company which is wholly‑owned by the Government and which is carrying on business mainly as an agent or instrumentality of the Government;
(e)	as a member of the personal staff of the President; or
(f)	in any 2 or more of the forms of service mentioned in sub‑paragraphs (a) to (e).”.

Deletion and substitution of rule 8

3. Rule 8 of the Pingat Bakti Setia (The Long Service Medal) Rules 1996 is deleted and the following rule substituted therefor:

“8. The President may forfeit any Medal awarded to any person under these Rules if —

(a)	the person is convicted of any criminal offence;
(b)	the person is dismissed from the public service or any form of service mentioned in rule 3(1)(b), (c), (d) or (e); or
(c)	the person is guilty of misconduct or disloyalty to Singapore.”.
