(Motor Vehicles Subject to Fuel Economy
and Vehicular Emissions Requirements)
(Amendment) Order 2023

In exercise of the powers conferred by section 40 of the Energy Conservation Act 2012, the Minister for Transport, after consultation with the Land Authority of Singapore, makes the following Order:

Citation and commencement

1.—(1) This Order is the Energy Conservation (Motor Vehicles Subject to Fuel Economy and Vehicular Emissions Requirements) (Amendment) Order 2023 and, except for paragraph 2(a), (c), (d) and (e), comes into operation on 1 April 2023.

(2) Paragraph 2(a), (c), (d) and (e) is deemed to have come into operation on 31 December 2021.

Amendment of paragraph 2

2. In the Energy Conservation (Motor Vehicles Subject to Fuel Economy and Vehicular Emissions Requirements) Order 2012 (G.N. No. S 309/2012), in paragraph 2 —

(a)

in sub‑paragraph (1), replace “Part IV” with “Part 4”;

(b)

in sub‑paragraph (1), replace sub-paragraph (c) with —

“(c)

as from and including 1 April 2021 — any bus that —

(i)	has a maximum laden weight of not more than 3,500 kilograms; and
(ii)	is first registered under the Road Traffic Act 1961.”;

(c)

in sub-paragraph (2)(b), replace “(Cap. 276)” with “1961”;

(d)

in sub‑paragraph (2)(e)(ii), replace “(Cap. 276, R 5)” with “(R 5)”;

(e)

in sub-paragraph (2)(f), after “Road Traffic Act”, insert “1961”; and

(f)

in sub‑paragraph (2), replace sub-paragraphs (g) and (h) with —

“(g)	as from and including 1 April 2021 — any motor vehicle mentioned in sub‑paragraph (1)(b) or (c) that is not subject to the additional registration fee under rule 7 of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) Rules; and
(h)	as from and including 1 April 2021 — any motor vehicle mentioned in sub‑paragraph (1)(b) that is specified in the Fourth Schedule to the Road Traffic (Vehicular Emissions Tax) Rules 2017 (G.N. No. S 776/2017).”.
