Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) (Amendment No. 2) Rules 1999

In exercise of the powers conferred by sections 34 and 140 of the Road Traffic Act, the Minister for Communications hereby makes the following Rules:

Citation and commencement

1. These Rules may be cited as the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) (Amendment No. 2) Rules 1999 and shall come into operation on 1st April 1999.

Amendment of rule 2

2. Rule 2(1) of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Registration and Licensing) Rules (R 5) (referred to in these Rules as the principal Rules) is amended by deleting the definition of "category (h) certificate of entitlement" and substituting the following definition:

“""category (f) certificate of entitlement" means a certificate of entitlement issued under rule 3 (1) (f) of the Road Traffic (Motor Vehicles, Quota System) Rules (R 31);"”.

Amendment of rule 9

3. Rule 9 of the principal Rules is amended —

(a)	by deleting the words "category (h)" in paragraph (3)(a)(i) and substituting the words "category (f)"; and
(b)	by deleting the words "category (h)" wherever they appear appears in paragraph (4) and substituting in each case the words "category (f)".

Amendment of rule 26

4. Rule 26 of the principal Rules is amended by deleting the words "rule 3 (1) (a), ( b), (c) or (d)" in the 7th line of paragraph (4) and substituting the words "rule 3 (1) (a) or (b)".

Amendment of rule 31

5. Rule 31 of the principal Rules is amended by deleting the words "rule 3 (1) (a), ( b), (c) or (d)" in the 4th line of paragraph (4) and substituting the words "rule 3 (1) (a) or (b)".

Amendment of rule 33

6. Rule 33 of the principal Rules is amended —

(a)	by deleting the words "category (h)" in the 5th line of paragraph (5) and substituting the words "category (f)"; and
(b)	by deleting the words "category (h)" wherever they appear in paragraph (6) and substituting in each case the words "category (f)".

Amendment of rule 38

7. Rule 38 of the principal Rules is amended by deleting the words "category (h)" in the 2nd line of paragraph (2) (a) and substituting the words "category (f)".

Amendment of rule 55

8. Rule 55 (5) of the principal Rules is amended by deleting the words "category (h)" and substituting the words "category (f)".
