(COVID-19 Safe Workplace)
(Amendment No. 2) Regulations 2022
In exercise of the powers conferred by section 65(1) of the Workplace Safety and Health Act 2006, the Minister for Manpower makes the following Regulations:
Citation and commencement
1.  These Regulations are the Workplace Safety and Health (COVID‑19 Safe Workplace) (Amendment No. 2) Regulations 2022 and come into operation on 15 March 2022.
Amendment of regulation 3
2.  Regulation 3(1) of the Workplace Safety and Health (COVID‑19 Safe Workplace) Regulations 2021 (G.N. No. S 992/2021) (called in these Regulations the principal Regulations) is amended —
(a)by deleting the definition of “clean”; and
(b)by deleting paragraphs (c), (d), (e) and (f) of the definition of “Control Order” and substituting the following paragraph:
(c)the COVID-19 (Temporary Measures) (Reopening — Control Order) Regulations 2022 (G.N. No. S 179/2022);”.
Amendment of regulation 19
3.  Regulation 19 of the principal Regulations is amended by deleting paragraph (1) and substituting the following paragraphs:
(1)  Subject to the exceptions in paragraph (2), an employer or a principal must take, so far as is reasonably practicable, such measures as are necessary to ensure that there is maintained, between individuals present or at work in a workplace in any part of those work premises of the employer or principal (as the case may be) during the period where the work premises are open for work, a distance as follows:
(a)where any employee or worker (as the case may be) within any part of those work premises does not wear a mask, the employee or worker (X) must —
(i)if X is in a work group, keep at least one metre apart from any other employee or worker present in the same part of the work premises who is not part of X’s work group;
(ii)if X is not in any work group, keep at least one metre apart from any other employee or worker present in the same part of those work premises; and
(iii)keep at least one metre apart from any individual who is not an employee or a worker but is present in the same part of those work premises;
(b)where all the employees or workers (as the case may be) present in any part of those work premises wear a mask, each employee or worker does not need to keep any distance apart —
(i)from any other employee or worker present in the same part of those work premises; and
(ii)from any other individual wearing a mask who is not an employee or a worker but is present in the same part of those work premises.
(1A)  In this regulation and regulation 20, a work group means a group consisting of not more than 5 employees or workers, or a combination of employees and workers not more than 5 in total.”.
Deletion and substitution of regulation 20
4.  Regulation 20 of the principal Regulations is deleted and the following regulation substituted therefor:
Minimise physical interaction at workplace social gatherings
20.  Without affecting regulation 19, an employer or a principal must take, so far as is reasonably practicable, such measures as are necessary —
(a)to minimise, in every work premises of the employer or principal, physical interactions between each work group of employees or workers that gather without wearing a mask for an occasion or a purpose that is substantially recreational or social in character; and
(b)to not organise or otherwise cause any gathering involving any employees or workers without wearing a mask for an occasion or a purpose that is substantially recreational or social in character (whether in any of the work premises of the employer or principal or elsewhere) unless the gathering consists of not more than 5 individuals.”.
Deletion of regulations 21 and 23
5.  Regulations 21 and 23 of the principal Regulations are deleted.
Amendment of regulation 30
6.  Regulation 30 of the principal Regulations is amended —
(a)by deleting “21,” in paragraph (2); and
(b)by deleting the words “, 22(2) or 23” in paragraph (3) and substituting the words “or 22(2)”.
